Braintree And District Athletic Club's latest venture into UKA Sportshall Athletics is proving to be a big hit. Since November, 48 children have taken part in the clubs internal league on a Thursday night and the club are very proud of our three Athletes who have been selected for the Essex Sportshall team to compete in Regional competitions. Congratulations to Lauren Hooper, Conor Culham and Morgan Thompson who all took the trip to Norwich to represent their counties having been selected following their success at competitions across the Sportshall season.

The club league takes the performance achieved in five pentathlon events with points being turned into UK Athletics “levels of achievement” from level 1 to Gold Standard. The five pentathlon events are Standing Long Jump, Shuttle Run, Vertical Jump, Speed Bounce and Chest Push with us also doing non-pentathlon events of, standing triple jump, javelin, hi-stepper and we also do a number of fun activities to build the foundations of athletics; agility, balance, co-ordination across run, jump and throw disciplines.
