Club Championships, 19th September 2015
After what has been an outstanding track and field season, it was great to finish the season off with a fantastic day at the club championships. There were a number of personal bests and a few first time competitors, plus lots of fun. Well done to all. A massive thank you to everyone involved helping out on the day and a special thanks to Vicky Brockbank and Sue Gurteen who organised the event. Results here.

Our Young Athletes at the EAL Final, 13th September 2015
Congratulations to our six teams that made the EAL final at Bury St Edmunds on 13th Sept 2015.
The league format is that out of nineteen teams in East Anglia, the top eight teams make the final and to have six of our teams make that, is our best ever result. The U15 girls had the best result in the final coming in 2nd place followed by the U13 girls who came 3rd, but every team put in a fantastic performance at this high level event. Full results below.
With the leagues over, a quick reminder that anyone who has not competed three times this year can still compete in the cross country winter season to achieve the three races to have their membership renewed next year.
Thanks again to everyone who has performed so well throughout the track and field season and again, well done to our finalists. Results are herePictures are on the Gallery page (and on facebook).

Three headed to Bedford to compete at the highest level possible at these ages. U15’s Daisy Partridge (Javelin) and Courtney Gordon (800m) and Ryan Morgan U17 Triple Jumper all achieved the entry standards and should be proud of making the competition and of their efforts on the day.

South East Intercounties, 23rd August 2015
Congratulations to members Joe Nourse, Daisy Partridge and James Murphy who represented Essex at the highly competitive South East Intercounties championship. Essex U15G Javelin Champion Daisy Partridge made her Essex team debut and came an excellent 7th out of the Region’s best throwers with a throw of 31.59m. U20 James Murphy, probably best known as a long jumper, showed his talent across other disciplines when he threw in the javelin competition throwing well at 37.7m. Joe Nourse followed up his recent mile club record with another record, this time in the 2000m steeplechase at 6:28.43, coming home in third place. It’s a huge honour to represent at country level and we’re very proud of Daisy, James and Joe who helped their age groups to win the overall competition for Essex. Well done guys.

BMC Mile Race Club Record, 19th August 2015
Simon Mennell was lucky enough to go with joe Nourse to watch him in the BMC mile race last night. The race was at 9 o'clock and he was in the A race and wanted to beat the club record of 4.40. Joe ran brilliantly with 800m on 2.17 and ran a brilliant 4.35.13 smashing the club under 20 and senior record. An outstanding even paced performance which I was privileged to see. Well done Joe!

Pictures are on the Gallery page (as well as on facebook).
Once again we saw the club members take home a big tally of medals. The full medal roll of honour follows below, but in addition to the medal winners, we saw great performances from the likes of Mia Toms making her debut for the club in the U13 1500m; Sky Fay making 3 finals; Kate Shepherd making another hurdles final; Lewis Thorn a PB and just missing out on a medal by the tiniest of margins; Hannah Smith making the hurdles final; the Barrie brothers both having strong runs and Rachel Carter following up her pentathlon success from last week with another great all round effort. Everyone whether winning a medal or not did the club proud and on top of that, our supporters were without a doubt the Essex Champions for cheering. Well done and thanks to everyone who competed or supported.

An amazing 16 medalists and as most won East of England and Essex medals, that made over 30 medals.
A 1-2 in the u13 girls 200m, the championship records being broken by Leah Duncan in both the 60m and 200m.
Medals across all disciplines of throws, sprints, middle distance and jumps and a finalist in the hurdles.
A hat-trick of medals by the Larkins family
The Shingleton twins both medalling
England championship standards being achieved. Too many PBs to mention.  Simply stunning results with more or less everyone achieving new best performances.
Superb support from family and athletes across the club to each other.
A massive well done to every single athlete who competed and the parents who made the effort to be there.  The weekend showed the best of our club in participation, support amongst club members and achievement.  Full results can be found here.
This weekend showed, the future is bright.  The future is RED and YELLOW!

London City Games Lee Valley, 24/25th January 2015
We were again represented well at the weekend and the athletes taking part produced some excellent performances.
U13 Girls
: Leah Duncan competed in the 60m, 200m and LJ gaining a PB in all 3 events. She jumped 3.76m in the LJ and went on to win both sprint events. Her 60m time of 8.20s and 200m time of 27.81s sees her number one in UK rankings for both distances.
U15 Girls: Hannah Smith again produced solid performances in the 60m Hurdles, LJ and 60m. Her 60m hurdles time was 10.11s: in the LJ she produced a leap of 4.16m and she was just outside her PB in the 60m with a time of 9.02s. Melissa Gurteen tested her early season throwing and jumping form in the shot put and long jump, producing a throw of 6.23m just shy of her PB, and jumped 3.98m in the Long jump.
U17 Boys: Sam Newman made his debut competing for Braintree in the 60m and he started this seasons campaign with a very impressive 7.86s, his first time over this distance. He managed to produce this time in both of his 60m runs which is a good marker for him now to aim for.
Tejan Barrie was also representing the club in the 60m and produced an excellent time of 7.50s in round 1 going on to achieve an even better time in round 2 of 7.38s, two excellent runs! Jumper Ryan Morgan followed up his SEAA medal from last week with a 5.31m long jump and then a pb in Triple Jump with an excellent 12.51m.
