EAL Young Athletes Cup Final, Bury St Edmunds 15th September 2013
Athletes and parents: for those that don't know we had a brilliantly successful day at the finals yesterday. The Under 17 men did the double, adding the cup final to their league trophy, whilst the Under 13 girls came 3rd and the Senior Women came 6th, so everyone improved their positions. It was a great team effort from all and too many great performances to mention.
Congratulations to every one of you. If it wasn't for all your hard work and commitment we would not have achieved this. WELL DONE. Performance standards throughout the year have reached new highs with many athletes placed high in the UK rankings, selected to represent Essex and competing in high level regional and national competitions.

Inter-counties Athletics Champs, 7th September 2013
Five of our athletes competed for Essex in the Inter County Champs where there were under 17 men, senior women and senior men. The teams present were Essex, Herts ,Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire and Suffolk. Essex were first team in 2 and second in Senior men so all
our athletes were county representative winners. Results:

In the relays, Essex won the 4x100 and 4x400. Richard was in the 100m relay and Nick and Charlie were in 400m relay and Essex won by a long way in both.

EAL, Colchester 1st September 2013
In the overall results following this last match, Braintree came 9th out of 19 clubs and were the top team in the U17 Male section. We have reached the final in 3 of the sections. See the results for 1st September and also the summary highlighting those clubs which have reached the final. A big thank you to all athletes who have represented the club this year in the Track and field events

English championships, Bedford 31st August & 1st September 2013
Nick Cooper was competing, having achieved the qualifying time this season. He cleared the heats on the Saturday in a time of 50.95, then on Sunday, he had a fantastic run to come 7th in a new personal best time of 50.61. A fantastic achievement in his first season.

Essex Championships day 4, Colchester 31st August 2013
Day 4 for the Essex Championship saw continued success for BDAC athletes. Joe Nourse took Gold in the U17 1500 steeplechase in 4.54, and excellent run winning by over 20 seconds. Leah Duncan, who is now ranked number one in the country at U11 sprints, won the 75m sprint in 10.9 seconds with Leisha Hunt coming an excellent 4th. Leah followed up with 2nd place in the 600m later in the day, while Freddie Trevanion was close to his pb in the boys 600m race where he came 5th, the same position as his 75m sprint.
In the relays the U17 4 x 100m boys team of Jamie Sutton, Lewis Thorn, Charlie and Richard Shingleton ran a great race, with slick handovers to claim Silver. The final success of the day saw the U13 3 x 800 team of Courtney Gordon, Daisy Partridge and Georgia Harrod come an excellent 4th place, just missing a medal, breaking the 10 year old club record with a time of 8.24.3.

Well done to everyone who competed so strongly in the Essex Championships this year.

Watford Open event 7th August 2013
Nick cooper and Ben Holdgate  took part in the 800m open events. Nick did a new personal best dropping under 2 mins again in 1.57.97 and Ben was just outside his best by 0.01 of a second in 2.19.77.

Woodford Green Open event 30th July 2013
In the 800m, Nick Cooper broke 2 mins for the first time recording a time of 1min 58.94, a great time and a new personal best.

Watford Open Meeting, Wednesday 24th July 2013
Courtney Gordon went to the Watford open evening today determined to break the clubs 1500m record for U/13 Girls. She had a fantastic run with a very fast finish to record a time of 5.14.00 exactly which breaks the old record.

East of England Athletics Championships, Cambridge, Saturday 1st July 2013
Nick Cooper ran the 400m at Cambridge Atheletics Stadium with a brilliant race, earning the silver medal with a time of 51.17 secs.

Schools Athletics District Sports, Tabor Wednesday 19th June 2013
Steven Rolfe ran 400m in 56 seconds and Jack Rolfe ran 100m in 12.01min.

North West Essex Schools Championships, Chelmsford Sat 8th June 2013:
Joe Nourse competed in the steeple chase 1500. His fantastic run gained 1st place in a time of 4.49.99, a new Braintree Atheletic Club record in the under 17 age group. Joe is now the Essex champion and will go on to English schools. Thomas Dowson also competed and attained a time of 26:51 in the 200m.

National Independant Schools, Friday 7th June 2013:
Following her 150m win at the East Anglia Independant Schools championship, Leisha went on to represent East Anglia, finishing 4th in a time of 23.5 at the National championships in Birmingham, just 0.7sec behind the winner. Congratulations and well done Leisha. Picture below.

Essex County Athletics Championships, 26th May 2013:
Nicholas Cooper arrived for the 800m race and was told that it was going to be a straight final instead of heats then a final. He ran against strong competion and finished 4th with a time of 2:01.27. which is a marvellous time and getting ever close to the sub-mins. Full results are here (external link)

Essex County Athletics Championships day 1, Grays 6th May
Daisy Partridge was silver medalist in the girls U13 Javelin with a throw of 16.28 and bronze medalist in the U13 Girls discus with a throw of 17.48. Congratulations! Pictures on home page.

Southern Athletic League, Colchester for U/17s 20th April 2013
Braintree & District A.C have taken to the Atheletics season in style. Personnel Bests and Personnel Achievments galore at the Track meet at the weekend. Full results are on the Track & Field Results page. A massive well done from everyone at the Club.

Essex Young Athletes League 14th April 2013

20 plus Braintree athletes brave the cold at the Chelmsford open (30March2013)
Despite flurries of snow on the day and near zero temperates, its was great to see over 20 athletes and their supporters turn out in the red and yellow of Braintree at the first outdoor track and field event of the season. Overcoming challenging conditions there were many excellent results and a large number of PBs pointing towards a promising season ahead. Well done and thank you to all who competed. Internal Club Sportshall Competition
Well done to our record 56 junior athletes who took part. We’ve had lots of fun on the Thursday evenings and standards of performance have been exceptional with many of our athletes being chosen for the Essex Team.

There are three competition categories and the top three in each group are::

Essex and Eastern Champs (9/10February 2013)
Held indoors at Lea Valley. Being a combined championship, there were 2 medals for each discipline:
Courtney Gordon: both bronzes in the girls U13 800m and the Essex silver in the long jump
Harry Gough: both bronzes in the boys U20 800m
Joe Nourse: both bronzes in the boys U17 1500m
Rowan Wallace: Essex silver & Eastern bronze in the boys U15 long jump with Lewis Thorn 4th
Clarice Parrott: both golds in the ladies U20 long jump
Kirsty Ronald: Essex bronze in the ladies U20 long jump & both golds in the triple jump
Richard Singleton: both silvers in the boys U17 long jump
Charlie Singleton: got to the last jump in the boys U17 long jump
