Skyline 120 Braintree 5 2011

Over 360 Athletes converged on Great Notley on Sunday for the Skyline 120 Braintree 5 which also incorporated the Essex Road Running Championships.

On a chilly Sunday morning, some of the top endurance runners from Essex took part in this challenging race, organised by Braintree & District Athletic Club.

Starting and finishing in the Skyline 120 Business Park, the route took in Queenborough Lane, Rayne Station and part of the Flitch Way, before looping back to the end.

Last year's winner, Crispin Bloomfield broke the course record by over 30 seconds as he came home the clear winner in 25m 40s. For the Ladies, Grange Farm Trotters Anita Cox won in a time of 31m 34, giving her the Essex Gold Medals in both the Open and Vet 35 categories.

Brenda Baker of George Yard, Braintree, one of the race's biggest sponsors, presented the Veteran Trophies to the winners in each age group.

The Joscelyn Chase Business Prize was won by runners from Holmes and Hill, and the Fostering People Too Schools Trophy was presented to Felsted school, who repeated last year's success with fine runs from Sebastian Struth, Angus McLaren and Jake Foley.

Struth also won the Junior Trophy.

Braintree Runners were led home by Gavin Allen in 28m 14s (11th Place)

Next came Ross Boyer in a PB of 32m 03s, Wayne Bulleid in 33m 07s and David Wildgoose in36m 02s.

Other Braintree times were Raoul Grantham, 41m 03s, Emma Tanner and Sandra Green, both 42m 17s, Chloe Cockell, 42m 54s, Timothy Gould, 46m 15s, Rhona Firth, 46m 24s.

Also putting in great performances were Stephanie Martin Halls 46m 52s, Kathryn Townend 53m 18s and Robin Pitts and Kevin Cockell both 53m 20s.

In the inaugural Colchester Half Marathon, Stuart Prestney finished in a PB of 1h 23m 21s.

Stewart Ellis knocked 1m 26s off his PB to finish in 1h 24m 25s, giving him 24th place out of 1000 runners.
