The course was mainly road and footpaths with a large part of the course through an open airfield which saw many of the athletes struggle with the extremely strong winds.
In a field of almost 600 athletes the following results were recorded:
Gavin Allen 5th 35m 36s

Alongside this race was the Mayor's 3K Junior Cross Country Race which also proved to be very popular with over 100 competitors.
Another of Braintree's up and coming juniors, Luke Allen, showed his strength from the start to challenge many of the older athletes.
Pacing himself superbly, he crossed the line in 7th position in a time of 12m 33s to win the Mayors Trophy for first Under 11 Boy.
Doing their bit for charity, Braintree Junior's Aaron and Mark Fribbens chose to run round the entire 5k route in Sunday's annual Farleigh Hospice walk.
Starting and finishing in Great Notley Country Park, it was a glorious day for all who partook in this event.
