17/10/2010
Seventeen Braintree & District Athletic Club athletes were involved in races in a busy weekend for the club.
Seven runners headed west to Abingdon for the annual marathon in the countryside around this Thames valley town.
Decent weather conditions prevailed, with bright sunshine, cool temperatures and no wind.
This contributed towards great times all round.
First home was endurance coach, Simon Mennell, in a time 3h 22m 27s.
He was followed by Lee Cousins whose 3h 27m 20s was a PB by over seven minutes.
Next came Lee Garnham in 3h 38m 10s, a PB by over 11 minutes.
Paul Miller finished in 3h 57m 59s, closely followed by Trevor Sibley in 3h 59m 30s.

Mark Fribbens (4h 25m 21s) and Richard Sandford (4h 25m 25s)completed the course together.
In the Wix 5 mile road race, also doubling as the Essex 5 Mile Championship, Braintree had some great performances from its nine representatives.
