Three Qualify for Essex in County Championships
16/01/2011
Braintree & District Athletic Club's Chloe Beckett had a busy and successful weekend competing in cross country and indoor track events.
On Saturday, 16 year old Chloe came 5th in the Senior Girls Essex Cross Country Championships in Hylands Park, Chelmsford.
This great performance, in muddy and windy conditions, qualified her to run for Essex in the Junior National Championships.
On Sunday, she went to Lea Valley to run in the Indoor U20 South East England Championships 1500m race.
Despite being on the younger end of this age category, Chloe came 4th overall.
Her time of 4m 59.18s, a PB by over 18 seconds, fulfilled her ambition to break the 5 minute barrier, and was just reward for her conscientious training.
Also qualifying to run for Essex in the Senior Girls Southern Championships were Jess Park and Emily Cowper-Coles.
Results from the Hylands Park event:
Junior Girls
Sam Ragus 29th
Intermediate Girls
Ruby Featherstone 28th
Chloe Cockell 48th
Chloe Hinds 50th
Daisy Solomon 52nd
Senior Girls
Chloe Beckett 5th
Jess Park 12th
Emily Cowper-Coles 14th
Phil Winter did well to complete the Senior Boys event, despite feeling unwell.
