RESULTS

Results are available at http://www.triandenter.com/race-results/2014-race-results/ and as a pdf file: here. These results were updated on or before 3rd May 2014 due to a transposition of bibs 55 & 56. This has changed the names at race positions 172 & 282 which in turn has changed the gender positions between these two points. We are sorry for the confusion.

Message from the Race Director, Paul Miller:
Thank you all who helped at the Braintree 5 Race. Without the vast amount of help in whatever form the Race could not have gone ahead. Whether you were marshalling out on the road, dealing with parking in the car park, or one of the other many helpers, you all played a vital role ensuring the smooth running of the event and some very grateful runners. You will appreciate that many months of planning go into the Race every year and it is virtually impossible to cover every single problem which may occur, but with your help any small difficulties were overcome and we ended up, hopefully, with an enjoyable day for all concerned Thank you all once again and here's to the next one Paul.

THE ROUTE

A slightly undulating rural course starting and finishing in Skyline 120 Business Park, next to Great Notley Country Park, Braintree. The route goes down Queenborough Lane past Rayne Station, into Rayne Village and then onto the Flitch Way for a few hundred metres before turning back into Rayne, and back home.

2013 Race Report, Sunday 7th April 2013

THE RACE

After what seems like a never ending winter the sun finally made appearance and the scene was set for a wonderful 4th Braintree 5 mile race. Temperatures were around 10 degrees and bright and sunny throughout.

500 runners took part in the annual event which this year also comprised of part of the Essex Championship series. Runners were a nice mix of affiliated runners, business teams and non-affiliated runners. This year we even had a blind runner and a double lung transplantee taking place, proving this event is definitely open for all abilities.

Nick Shasha came home in first place in a time of 26m 17s for the men and Sarah Ivory in 30m 27s. Our ladies team finished in second place - well done!

Local runners Ellie Gray and Joseph Nourse came home in first place for junior category (under 18) for Braintree Athletic Club in 39m 25s & 28m 19s respectively. Anita Cox, also running for Braintree won the Female under 45 category in 31m 38S. As a result of his performance in this race, Joe Nourse is now ranked 2nd in the country under17. Congratulations, Joe!

Ilford won the men’s running team prize with Colchester Harriers taking the female prize.

Local Braintree business UK Tapes won the business team category with team member Theodore Mubayi also taking the first place in the male unaffiliated category.
