Aaron Fribbens - Jack Petchey Award
Braintree & District's Aaron Fribbens has been excelling himself at school
and at the Running Club, helping out where he can, and with the Training of
the Junior Athletes. Aaron has taken part in the Jack Petchey
Award.
The Achievement Award Scheme aims to enable schools, colleges and youth organisations to recognise, reward and celebrate the achievements of their young people. Jack Petchey wants young people to raise their aspirations, believe in themselves and make a contribution to their society.
Achievement Awards are designed to recognise a wide range of achievement. It is not just about being clever, or gifted, but about putting the effort in and doing your best. The scheme works well because young people themselves are involved in nominating and selecting the winners.
Participating groups regularly select a young person to receive an Achievement Award. The winner is publicly congratulated for their achievement and receives:
• A framed certificate
• A Jack Petchey Young Achiever badge
• £200 to be spent on a school/club or community project of the recipient’s choice
The young person chooses how their award money is to be spent - this can be spent on additional activities or new equipment. Aaron has decided to donate his prize money to Braintree And District Athletics Club, this will enable the club to buy some much needed sportshall training equipment. Everyone at the club is very proud of Aaron's hard work and achievement. Well Done.
